Cost: Free to attend. You must register before you attend, and we ask that if you register, you show up, as the space is limited.
Level of Content (Advanced): For participants to most effectively utilize the content of this workshop, you probably will want to have been exposed to the NsLLT through one or more of these avenues: professional mentoring by someone with an NsLLT background; on site work mentoring of the NsLLT methods; workshops about the NsLLT or pragmaticism methodology; and/or University of Portland neuroeducation classes. This is considered an advanced workshop as defined by ASHA.org.
Purpose: The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants who possess an understanding of the NsLLT with a unique opportunity to continue their learning about theory and practice as it relates to being a Neuro-Educator in today’s schools.
Content: This workshop’s content has three components: 1) Many educators have expressed to the sponsors that they wish to continue their NsLLT/Neuro-educator learning based on current educational needs. This workshop learning will focus on a topic that continues to rise from the escalation of anti-social behavior in schools as well as in society, and the concomitant increase of diagnosed learning problems. For example, in the New York Times (November 25, 2025), it was reported that 1 in 4 of the 17-year-olds are diagnosed with an ADD disorder, autism occurs 1 in 31, and “now almost 32 percent of adolescents have at some point been given a diagnosis of anxiety. More than one in 10 have experienced a major depressive disorder.” Furthermore, the co-occurring disabilities, ADHD, autism, behavior disorders, trauma (specified and non-specified), mental health issues such as oppositional defiant disorders (ODD), and pathological avoidance disorder (PAD) have increased making the connection between a cause and a diagnosis even more problematic when it comes to supporting and or educating within these social networks. Arwood will provide information on how embodied semantics supports the current need to explain the increase in diagnostic labels, suggesting a shift in thinking towards the semiotics of semantics known as the field of biosemiotics (philosophy of language joins neuroscience). As always, the theory will be aligned with practice. References will be offered. 2) Several people have indicated to the sponsors that they are in dissemination positions but don’t always know how to share what they are doing to shift the dominant Developmental Learning Paradigm (DLP) to an Acquisition Learning Paradigm (ALP) to focus on the learner, not the educator. Levels of dissemination will be shared. 3) The last 30 minutes will be used for participants to share what they would like to see in the future in terms of learning and disseminating based on the NsLLT. This will be structured with questions and a form for each person to complete before they leave. As always, participants are welcome to submit their questions to Arwood before this event (ellynlucasarwood.com). We are looking forward to working with you.
Registration: If you will be attending, please contact Carole Kaulitz (ckaulitz@gmail.com) or Jan Downing (jandhome@msn.com) by February 10, 2026. Thank you!
